The Storefront Theatre and WeWillMeet productions bring Claudia Dey's Canadian Gothic masterpiece to Toronto stages for the first time in sixteen years!

Set in Timmins, Ontario, Beaver is a poignant coming of age story placing an eccentric young woman at the centre of the 'hero's journey', as she struggles to grow beyond her circumscribed world. Smashing through the Bechdel test with flying colours, Beaver explores the idiosyncratic dynamics between generations of women as they attempt to free themselves from cycles of addiction and toxic familial patterns.

Dey's work, often lauded for its unique brand of humour and sublime heightened language, fights against the stereotype of Canadian theatrical drama and presents us with a dark comedy that is brazenly female, and a searingly truthful interpretation of life in Ontario's North.
